This past week I made a bad choice, so my parents gave me a consecquece of no facebook, cell phone, ipod touch of skype; untill I finish an assignment. At first, when I heard the assignent I thought it would be a peice of cake! But then God set something on my heart that made it harder than a normal one I'd have to do. It was due today in typed form and an oral report. Here was all my mom and dad said.
Here was my assignment-

Discernment & Character

Discernment and character are two great traits to have in you life. Discernment is to have the ability to judge well. And character is to have mental and moral qualities that are distinctive to one individual.

Discernment is important to have in your life. You shouldn’t always just judge people, but you also shouldn’t be careless about what friends or things get into your life. Job 12:20 says, “He silences the lips of trusted advisers and takes away the discernment of elders”. In this verse, Job is talking to Zophar the Naamathite. He is telling them how to live his life, and to listen to elders’ wise advice and ideas. And apply discernment of judging well to Zophar’s life.

I shouldn’t follow others that are trusted friends; I should follow those who have done what is right to take away real knowledge. In Proverbs 28:11 it says “A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him.” And in Proverbs 28:11 it says “A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him.” In this verse Solomon is telling his people not to be the rich man and to follow the wisdom of the poor man, who judges well.

Some times I get to thinking that I’m the “rich man”, I don’t need to listen to others because I am smart but I should learn that I am not always right. And in Deuteronomy 32:28 says, “They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them.” And in Deuteronomy 32:28 says they are a nation without sense,
there is no discernment in them. If only they were wise and would understand this
and discern what their end will be!” In this verse Moses is reciting an old song in front of all of Israel. He is saying that Israel is a city of no discernment, they do not judge very well. He also says that he wished that they would be wise and at least be able to discern where their end will be. I shouldn’t be part of the nation that is senseless. So when I see things that are inappropriate I need to leave it alone, and in the facebook problem I should’ve deleted it right away instead of commenting.

Character is important to have in your life as well. Character is being your own person, without having to copy someone else’s role. In Proverbs 31:10, “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies,” This is the Says of King Solomon. His mother is telling him what is worth deep investigation. He is speaking about a woman who fears God and has a beautiful character. “Rubies are hard to find;” So are woman of great faith in God, and who have a character like Jesus did. I need to act like Jesus, have a loving character that will excel past mediocre. And in Romans 5:4 it says, “Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. I deserved this punishment for answering the message senselessly. Suffering brings other things as well, like; tears, fights, struggles and hatred. But when you have accomplished the sufferings it can produce in you a stronger perseverance, character; and hope. Perseverance to hold on to life longer, character to be separate from your peers and not have to worry about what you are doing right or wrong, and hope for the future. The facebook message was a test that I failed to pass. But with this I have received stronger perseverance, character, and hope. Perseverance to endure the struggles and problems better; character to not stay inside the lines of the coloring book; and hope, that for the future I wont have this happen again. And that I will discern and stand strong with noble character.

Discernment and character are two traits you should have in your life. But with both of them, discernment is the most important. Because, if you have great judgment, you’ll already know that character is important!
